The Rega Fono MC MK4 is a remarkable piece of audio equipment engineered to optimize the performance of any low-output moving coil (MC) cartridge. Precisely designed to enhance the latest range of Rega MC cartridges, this phono stage also offers compatibility with a myriad of third-party low-output MC cartridges, thanks to its full adjustability for gain and loading, easily located on the rear panel.
The Fono MC MK4 is now housed in a newly redesigned case, stylishly matching the Fono MM MK5 and Neo MK2 range, and Rega's latest series of electronic components. This state-of-the-art look will seamlessly blend with any hi-fi system, bringing a touch of modern aesthetic.
Functionality and efficiency take the center stage in the Fono MC MK4 design. The product employs the Linear Systems low noise LSK389 FET in an all-discrete input stage, where noise reduction and linearity are crucial in extracting the very best from your MC cartridge. This high input impedance of FET helps ensure the loading effects of the amplifier circuit are minimal, enabling the cartridge to function at its peak.
In the RIAA equalization amplifier, the Fono MC MK4 utilizes a MUSE operational amplifier. For the signal path and in the RIAA equalization circuits, we have employed polypropylene capacitors. The Fono MC MK4 offers selectable input loading for both resistance and capacitance, along with two different gain settings. As a result, it syncs well with most low-output MC cartridges.
The innovative Fono MC MK4 circuit design is a direct result of the development work invested in the highly successful Aria phono amplifier. Add to this a sleek, contemporary aluminum housing - matching the Rega Neo MK2 PSU and Fono MM MK5 phono stage - and you have a product that performs as amazingly as it looks.
